Investiture is a milestone unlike any other: a moment to celebrate the journey that students began two years ago, and to reflect on the Tuck learning and relationships that will continue for life.
On Saturday, June 13 at 12:30 p.m. EDT, the Tuck community will honor the remarkable Tuck Class of 2020 with a first-ever virtual Investiture celebration.
T’20s have led the planning for this special celebration, collaborating with the MBA Program Office to reimagine this important milestone in a format that meets the public-health challenges of today while also recognizing the great accomplishments of the newest class of wise, decisive leaders with all due pomp and circumstance. Planning also continues for a future in-person ceremony and Class of 2020 gathering, details forthcoming.
In 2015, Noreen Doyle T'74 became the first woman to chair the British Banker’s Association.
“To our resilient T’20 class, the resolve you have shown in the face of this unprecedented spring term has been inspiring,” Dean Matthew J. Slaughter wrote in a recent email to the class of 2020. “You have accomplished a great deal: in earning admission to Tuck, in learning so much in and out of our classrooms, and in preparing for your next steps after earning your MBA. Although we cannot come together as planned this spring, we still look forward to honoring this important milestone in our students’ Tuck education.”
The virtual Investiture address will be delivered by Noreen Doyle T’74, chair of the Board of Newmont Mining Corporation. Noreen has served as a member of Newmont Mining Corporation’s Board since 2005, as well as on the boards of several other companies, including 12 years as board chair of Credit Suisse. In 2015, she became the first woman to chair the British Banker’s Association.

In her executive career, Noreen was first vice president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development from 2001 to 2005. Prior to that, she was bank-wide Head of Risk Management and established its syndication business. Before joining the EBRD in 1992, Noreen had a distinguished tenure at Bankers Trust Company (now Deutsche Bank), specializing in natural resources and leveraged finance.
She is a member of the Board of Governors of St Mary’s University in Twickenham, London, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Tuck has benefitted from Noreen’s wisdom and counsel through her past service on both our Board of Advisors and our EMEA Council. In addition to earning her MBA from Tuck, Noreen also holds a bachelor of arts from the College of Mount Saint Vincent.
During the celebration on Saturday, the Tuck community, family, and friends will also hear remarks from a class-selected student speaker, Student Board President Caroline Wells T’20, Senior Associate Dean for Teaching and Learning Joe Hall, and Associate Dean Sally Jaeger. Award recipients will be announced, and in accordance with the wishes and guidance of the student planning committee, Tuck will wait until a future in-person ceremony to announce each individual student’s degree conferral.
Over the next two weeks, T’20s are invited to submit photos of their favorite moments from the past two years, to be featured during virtual Investiture and as part of a commemorative mosaic for the class.
