The Tuck Classroom Experience, Tailored to Tuck Alumni

The new Tuck Alumni Leadership Program at Reunion pairs celebrated faculty with alumni looking to enhance their impact as leaders.

Punam Anand Keller, the Charles Henry Jones Third Century Professor of Management, has taught thousands of MBA students during her 18 years at Tuck, so she’s very familiar with the alchemy that happens in a Tuck classroom. Through a mix of cold-calls, note-scribbling, heated debates, and challenging assignments, students learn new skills and perspectives, test the boundaries of their knowledge, and discover things about themselves.

Keller, who is now the associate dean for innovation and growth, wanted to re-create that experience for Tuck alumni, so she worked with Executive Education to design the new Tuck Alumni Leadership Program.

Offered just prior to Reunion weekend, October 6-7, the day-and-a-half-long program is pure Tuck, but has some significant differences from the classrooms alumni remember. “The students are now senior managers responsible for multimillion-dollar businesses and division heads poised for promotion,” Keller says, “and the professors are sharing their leading-edge practical research from best-selling books that has made them even more famous since the students graduated.”

The program will feature Dean Matthew Slaughter and professors Kevin Lane Keller, Paul Argenti, Richard D’Aveni, and Ron Adner. They will deliver substantive and thought-provoking sessions on topics of relevance to business leaders today: innovation ecosystems, strategy using 3D printing, brand management, global economics, and ethical leadership and personal responsibility.

“Tuck created this high-impact learning experience to focus on general management training and executive leadership development for seasoned senior executives preparing for or engaged in enterprise-level responsibilities,” Keller says. “Professors with the highest impact on management thinking were selected to share the latest knowledge and the best tools to help alumni competitively position their careers and their organizations in an intensive, immersive and collaborative learning environment that is quintessential Tuck.”
