The Tuck alumni network is the best in the world, with a remarkable record of annual support to back up the claim.

Among institutions of higher education, annual funds are an indispensable source of revenue, providing consistent support to a school’s immediate needs and strategic priorities. The yearly effort at Tuck, known as Tuck Annual Giving (TAG), has a coveted reputation in philanthropic circles for its record alumni participation—and increasingly, its financial impact.

Through the far-reaching and generous support of alumni, TAG reached new heights in FY22 by raising more than $9 million in unrestricted gifts for the school, narrowly topping the school’s previous record set in FY21. In addition, Tuck also maintained the world’s best alumni participation rate in FY22, with more than 61 percent of alumni making a gift.

It was the highest rate among MBA programs by a wide margin and according to publicly available data, likely topped all of higher education. As a point of comparison, in the 2022-2023 U.S. News & World Report rankings, Princeton was listed first among national universities with an average giving rate of nearly 48 percent.

Tuck’s unrivaled alumni network and her own life-changing MBA experience prompted Jane Maglaque T’21 to make her first TAG gift last year. When she enrolled at Tuck, Maglaque had three goals for her MBA journey: build a powerful professional network, secure an amazing job, and receive a best-in-class education. Even while navigating the challenges of a pandemic, she says Tuck delivered on all three. Through a generous, multi-year pledge to TAG, utilizing Google’s corporate match program to maximize her gift, Maglaque is helping provide the same benefits to future classes.

There can be a misconception that philanthropy is for later in life, but as a young alum, you never feel closer to what students are going through, says Maglaque. I’m living the immediate benefits of my Tuck experience. Truly, it changed the trajectory of my life and I want to make sure the school has the resources to create that life-changing experience for others.

TAG hopes to continue its record of success in FY23 with several initiatives planned before the fiscal year ends on June 30. This includes the annual May Sprint, a five-day giving campaign May 4–8 to raise 581 TAG gifts, equaling the number of students currently enrolled at Tuck. T’23s are also hosting their own Second Year Class Gift campaign in April with the goal of achieving 100 percent class participation.

Class president Destinee Mentor-Richards T’23 and Social Chair Rob Eckstein T’23 are leading that effort.

Giving to the class gift campaign is a great first opportunity to support future students as alumni have supported our class over the last two years, says Eckstein. I’ve loved my time in Hanover and am excited to give back to this special place.

Eckstein says knowing the remarkable percentage of alumni who give back to Tuck inspires him and his classmates to build on that legacy and leave their own unique mark on the school. Executive Director of Tuck Annual Giving Heather Ermarth adds that the readiness of students and alumni to generously give back is one of the qualities that most distinguish Tuck.

Our annual May Sprint and Class Gift exemplify the culture of gratitude that exists across the Tuck community, she says, noting that last year’s Sprint raised more than 1,000 gifts—a five-day participation record for the school.

Tuck continues to rely on the strategic funding that TAG provides and alumni, regardless of where they are and when they graduated, continue to answer the call.
